The Cornayan Pantheon

_F9A0282.jpg

The Cornayan Pantheon, or the Faith of the White Pantheon, is the only legal religion under the Sunjoy Dynasty. It is formed of the worship of archetypal gods who help guide the world's people towards a holy exemplarship.

The Faith is built on the idea that each god is representative of a colour, when you have the perfect balance of all of the gods influences you will receive enlightenment and reach the colour of the divine creator - the pure white light of the Queen in White. Some followers will strive to perfection, whilst others will select a patron of the White Pantheon and adopt their teachings fully - some even going as far as to decorate their personal or house heraldry with the colours associated with the gods. To represent this, chapels of The White Pantheon often feature prisms, stained glass windows and mirrors in their design - showing beams of coloured light coming together to form the white sunlight that embodies enlightenment.

The Gods within the White Pantheon are:

The Knight in Scarlet - Patron of Warfare, Strength and Martial Prowess

The Lord in Purple - Patron of Authority, Establishment and Law

The Fisher in Blue - Patron of Patience, Resilience and Toil

The Lady in Green - Patron of Nature, Beauty and Fertility

The Friar in Yellow - Patron of Worship, Tradition and Learning

The Shepherd in Orange - Patron of Protection, Chivalry and Honesty

and The Queen in White, embodying the perfect harmony of the faith.

THe Nameless Eight

Almost all texts regarding the origin, purpose and practices of The Nameless Eight (or The Sacred Eight as they are known to those who do not fear their power) were destroyed by soldiers of the Cornayan Empire during the reign of Queen Engla Cornay, as they were the holy scripture belonging to the fey lords themselves. The general public understanding of The Nameless Eight is often confused and consists of a great number of exaggerations, half-truths and blatant falsehoods, even their devoted followers seem to be engaging more in guesswork than actual practice. The general understanding is that the Nameless Eight each represent a cycle in all existence, with The First being creation, The Second being growth, The Third being establishment, The Fourth being peace, The Fifth being control, The Sixth being corruption, The Seventh being destruction and The Eighth being rebirth.

Generally, there is no unified understanding amongst followers of which phase the existence of Ossinett is currently in, so there is a large amount of in-fighting between the various sects. There is even in-fighting between sects of the same power, believing that the world should best be corrupted in different ways or that the real ritual for bringing peace is completely different to that of another sect. Due to the conflict the faith often brings, their ties to the pre-imperial world and their general aura of fear, they have been banned by almost every nation that is or once was allied with Cornay.

The Four Lords

Unlike many of the other pantheons, worship of The Four Lords is limited to around three or four nations - and even then, worship in half of those nations is unpopular. The Four Lords are the gods of Wedrobia, The Aberlands and Wasnord, its all-powerful fey creators which breathe life into the positive and negative aspects of each of the seasons. Each of The Four Lords oversees one of four fey courts, one for each of the seasons, and works together to fight off their antithesis - The Court of Night. Followers of The Four Lords tend to dedicate themselves to one of the four, often finding their abilities strengthened by their seasonal magic. Followers of The Court of Night usually find themselves living in places of darkness, both literal or metaphorical, and have often faced great prejudice at the hands of the followers of the Four Lords.
